A simple and super easy gathering one June evening was our Gr8 Backyard Barbecue Dinner Party. The menu included several different flavors and foods!
In 2009 our Gr8 dinner was scheduled to be in June. Sometimes we decide on a more involved theme and sometimes an easier theme comes to mind.
Since our beginning together in 1998, no one had entertained a Backyard Barbecue Dinner Party theme.
Well then, perfect, a very casual summer evening with dear friends enjoying uncomplicated food would be a Gr8 plan.
The décor could also be easy and uncomplicated; to be able to pull things from the cupboards would be fun and inexpensive. The only things I bought were fresh flowers and these perfect plastic salad plates at the 99¢ store.
The party was kicked off with delicious contributions from each of my fabulous friends.
We enjoyed thirst quenching margaritas from Jurga while we nibbled on TEX-cellent Texas Caviar a la Debbie.
And delicious Avocado Green Onion Deviled Eggs prepared by Anna.
Buffalo Chicken Wings were a must!
I knew this theme would be right up Joel's alley! He loves to grill so we decided to have a burger bar.
We offered many choices of relishes, condiments and fresh vegetables to add to grilled bison burgers, portobello mushroom burgers and fresh tuna burgers.
Because we wanted everyone to try each burger, I prepared them slightly larger than a slider but not as big as the size of a regular burger.
It was easy deciding the size of the burger because I had decided to make homemade hamburger buns and customize their size to the size of the burgers we were serving. Truly easier than I thought they would be! Try it!
Of course we always end the evening with something sweet and what could be a better summer dessert than peach cobbler and homemade vanilla ice cream at a Backyard Barbecue Dinner Party?!
The truth is that even though we all look forward to our Gr8 Dinners for all the delicious food and flavors, what we treasure the most is time together which never gets old!
